This brownish yellow is low-staining, an ideal substitute for more transparent, higher staining pigments such as New Gamboge or Yellow Ochre. A wash of Mars Yellow adds gentle granulation to passages. Color-coordinate paintings using Mars Yellow with a Violet for subtle, muted warm grays.
