Fauzia Shabnam has experimented with almost all the different mediums of art, however from the first time she tried watercolor, she knew that this was the medium for her. Watercolor allowed her to express things that she had never thought possible through art. Her belief is that degrees don’t make an artist, because art is a form of expressing oneself and allows a peek into the mind and life of an artist. Only through experience, and more importantly passion, can one convey messages and emotions in their truest form.
No matter how skilled an artist is, Fauzia believes it is the use of color that is the most important. Using the colors of her palette, an artist can make any sort of art ranging from landscape to portrait. Each color can be used in so many different ways that it’s possible to make entire paintings using just one color. She is currently the country leader for Bangladesh at the Global Association of Watercolor Artists (GAWA), and her work has been exhibited around the world.
