Jan Min is a Dutch painter who has been drawing and painting since childhood. In 2011, he explored different techniques in art master classes at the Kunst Académie in the Netherlands and decided to focus on watercolor. He’s driven by the pleasure of recreating the atmosphere and light found in his surrounding environment, both land and sea. Jan commits to capturing the beauty that inhabits the places he visits, using different tones and shades to give his scenes a poetic sensitivity that he hopes will resonate with his viewers.
In 2015, Jan co-founded IWS Holland and continues to be active with the organization. He’s often invited to participate in prestigious exhibitions and shows his work around the world. He has won numerous awards, including a recent nomination for the Fabriano International Watercolor Biennale Prize. He gives many workshops in person and online and has been published in several magazines.
“Painting is about more than techniques and emotions; it’s also about discovering inspiring colors. I started using DANIEL SMITH Watercolors many years ago – it opened a whole other world for me and my desire to create light in my work. Every time I use it, it’s a new journey into the magic of color.”
