Silvia Monge

Silvia Monge is a Costa Rican watercolor artist who superlatively enjoys this creative process. Her work is distinguished by the variety of subjects, the daring use of color and lines, which makes it impossible to not take notice when you are in front of her work. She is an artist that mutates, like the tropics. She is a painter who is always looking for more – a researcher and a founder of new ways of making watercolor art.

Silvia loves to explore the tropics of Costa Rica in her art, referring to them as a ‘biological war” – a place where every living being fights for energy, nutrients and survival. Their ammunitions are flavor, design, color, texture, camouflage, cadence, sound, poison and patience – all in a constantly changing environment.

“In order to interpret the tropics, an artist is required to constantly investigate and experiment new tools and forms that allow its proper emulation. The force of nature can be interpreted using DANIEL SMITH Watercolors with their most singular variety of pigments and textures and transparencies. A great watercolor is a journey to enjoy, to play, to discover, and to take risks. DANIEL SMITH Watercolors have the best quality to create an adventure that travels as far as my imagination allows.”
