Most professional brands of watercolour are of good quality and similar in behavior on paper. The DANIEL SMITH Watercolors have an amazing range of colours (over 250), including their Luminescents. Recently I worked with them to design 3 new greys:  Joseph Z’s Cool Grey for frosty mornings and rainy winter day paintings. It has a lovely greenish sediment perfect for low light and early morning light effects – a must for winter paintings. Joseph Z’s Neutral Grey is wonderful for strong summer light when shadows have that rich warm glow. It’s particularly useful for painting late afternoon light effects with its pinkish glow in lighter washes. Joseph Z’s Warm Grey is perfect for those strong, New York City type cityscapes, providing powerful monolithic shapes without looking chalky. It gives the look of charcoal drawing or old-fashioned photos.   Joseph Zbukvic
