Dino Pajao shares his favorite watercolor palette and techniques – enjoy!
Here’s a quick Q&A with Dino:
If you could take only three colors to paint with on a deserted island, which three would you choose?
Ultramarine Blue, Isoindoline Yellow and Permanent Alizarin Crimson. These three primaries would let you create a wide range of colors.
Have you won any awards recently for juried art shows you’ve entered?
Colorful Asia – 2022 International Watercolor Online Exhibition by IMWA (International Masters of Watercolour Alliance) – I received an honourable mention award for the painting featured here, My Big Brother’s Dream.
Where were the last few photos you took of scenery that might inspire you to paint?
Our local port area at night. I’ve always wanted to paint night scenes at the pier, as it reminds me of the many trips I’ve made between my hometown and the bigger cities.
What is the best piece of advice another artist has given you?
Artists need to invest in themselves – don’t stop learning from the masters and buy quality art supplies and tools for your creative journey.
What are you excited about working on next?
A 20-piece commission that features Cebu (a province of the Philippines) in pre-colonial times. The project pays homage to the Cebuano culture and aims to reconnect Cebuanos, especially the younger generation, to their culture.
