Slobodan (Bob) Tomanovic studied at the School of Industrial Design and later at the Academy of Arts. Bob has a unique knowledge of watercolour techniques, and a wet-on-wet painting technique with water-soluble oils that he invented himself. His widely accepted compositional theory helped many artists to achieve much better results.
As an internationally-renowned and award-winning artist, Bob has exhibited in cities around the world, like New York, Zürich, Amsterdam, Tokyo and The Hague. One of his paintings hangs at the Dutch Parliament Building in the Hague. Another painting, Hofvijver ,was bought for the then departing Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok. An exhibition in Aardenburg was opened by the Belgium Vice-President and Minister of Tourism, Mr. Landuit.
Bob won an award from the big Japanese industrial city Kawaguchi, near Tokyo. Upon invitation by the city, he stayed in Japan for 50 days to make a big painting for the Kawaguchi Comprehensive Cultural Center Lilia. It turned into a big piece of art of about 4 x 1 meters and was received with great enthusiasm.
In the year 2020, he published his popular book, Master of Visual Composition, for the English-speaking market. In this book, Bob describes in detail how the compositional language works. This knowledge is perfectly applicable at all levels, from amateur painters to professional artists.
