As a child, Catarina Alkemark loved to draw and paint, and she has continued doing it for her whole life. After she finished high school, she painted almost exclusively with watercolor. She is largely self-taught, attending workshops with well-known artists.

Catarina lives in the southern part of Sweden with her husband and works full-time as an intensive care nurse.

“After a demanding day at work, it’s quite nice to clear your mind and find new energy with a white sheet of paper and beautiful colors. Happiness is when something amazing happens on the paper. I like to challenge myself with more and more difficult motifs. I began with simple flowers and now I paint nightscapes and people. Challenging yourself is a good way to develop. I want my paintings to tell stories, allowing my viewers to imagine what is happening.”
