“Art flows through my family’s veins, so in my view, my artistic journey began at the moment of my conception. My father and grandfather were both artists, as was my uncle, and they were constant sources of inspiration while I was growing up.

Despite being enrolled in medical school with the goal of becoming a doctor, my passion for art persisted throughout my studies. While pursuing my medical degree presented some challenges to my artistic pursuits, I managed to enter various competitions at school and college level whenever the opportunity arose.

After earning my MBBS degree and fulfilling the requirements for a higher diploma in my chosen field, Anaesthesiology, I was honoured to be awarded a Fellowship from the College of Anaesthesiologists, Ireland, and a Master’s degree in the same specialty from the University of Ireland.

Throughout this time, I continued to create art and often auctioned my paintings to raise funds for different charities.

I served as a tutor and member of the Council of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland for five years, and I worked as a consultant anaesthesiologist at Cavan General Hospital for more than 22 years.

It was not until 2020 that I formally embarked on my new career as a professional artist, after deciding to take early retirement from my position as a consultant anaesthesiologist. This transition not only provided more time for painting but also allowed me to attend workshops with world-renowned master watercolour artists, as I had not previously received formal training in the field.

I became a member of the WCSI a few years ago and now represent the society as a liaison officer for the European Confederation of Watercolour Societies (ECWS).

My work has been exhibited at both national and international levels over the past five years. I regularly participate in various competitions and have won awards nationally and internationally. Four of my paintings were accepted and exhibited in Louvaquarel 2025, the Festival International de l’Aquarelle de La Louvière in Belgium.

At present, I am working on several projects, including participation in WCSI and Dublin Art Club exhibitions in September and October 2025. My solo exhibition will also take place in Co. Cavan in October 2025.”
