Ultramarine Blue plots cooler and bluer than the more saturated French Ultramarine. Temperature aside, both blues have equal permanence and lightfastness. Ultramarine Blue is a historic pigment used in Egyptian tombs and was a favorite of Raphael, da Vinci, Renoir and Michelangelo.
De gouache-proefstukjes worden in twee delen geschilderd. Het bovenste deel is effen van kleur, rechtstreeks uit de tube, en het onderste deel is een mengsel van verf, water en titaanwit in een verhouding van 1:1:1.
