Tere Lojero Profile Picture_2023

Tere Lojero was born and raised in Mexico City. She studied architecture in her native country, where she learned about drawing and perspective, as well as how to use mediums like charcoal, watercolor and pastel. Her early career in architecture is where she developed an eye for rendering landscapes, cityscapes and urban scenes. She was inspired by the landscape painting techniques of Mexican artist, Edgardo Coghlan (1928-1995), which helped her better understand how to use watercolor to express her feelings.

In 1998, she decided to focus solely on watercolor. Her paintings have been in diverse watercolor exhibitions, nationally and internationally, she has had over 30 solo exhibits in Mexico galleries, and she has juried and organized multiple art competitions. She has won several awards for her work in shows around the world, including Pakistan and Bulgaria. She is a member of the Mexican Watercolor Society, serves as the Mexico Leader for the International Watercolor Society and as Vice President for IWS Globe.

“I am completely devoted to landscape painting – it’s a subject that allows me to share my vision of the world and to give my brushes a voice. I enjoy capturing day-to-day scenes the most, through which I can give part of my soul to my audience. Life is like a theater – full of movement and color. DANIEL SMITH Watercolors are perfect for creating the right atmosphere for the daily scenes I love to paint. Their large variety of colors vibrate on the paper. When they touch the water, the color seems to fall and slowly disappear, but it always leaves a faint mark which helps me generate unique effects in my art. Because these watercolors are highly permanent, I know my work will continue shining for a long time.”
