When you apply Watercolor Ground to wood or many other surfaces like metal, plastic, plaster, glass, fabric and canvas – now you have a foundation to paint with watercolor to get beautiful, translucent effects that are not possible with other types of paint.

Allow the ground to dry for at least 24 hours, then paint with your favorite palette of colors. For this wood flower, we used New Gamboge, Pyrrol Orange, Sap Green, Cobalt Blue, and Quinacridone Burnt Orange, as well as DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Sticks in Serpentine Genuine, and Quinacridone Coral. Such a cute spring décor project!

The last step is to spray the wood with an archival aerosol MSA varnish with UVLS to protect it.
