I just returned home after a wonderful week in Santa Fe, New Mexico where I attended PACE – the 9th Annual Plein Air Convention & Expo, organized by Plein Air Magazine. As part of a large faculty team of professional painters, I did a live demo, painted outdoors daily and provided support and encouragement to other attendees. Fellow artists travel from all across the world to participate and every medium was represented – watercolor, acrylic, gouache, oil, pastel, ink and more!

I enjoyed sharing my set-up for sketching with watercolor on location. Santa Fe is a very dry climate but my DANIEL SMITH watercolors remained moist and easy to activate with a light mist of water, even on the windiest days – and it was windy! I took extra tubes of paint with me and often shared it with others. It was fun to share both my passion for painting outdoors and the joy of using top-quality paint by Daniel Smith.
