Monday Mixes

Monday Mixes are about having fun with a few colors. It’s the perfect warm-up exercise for artists to try new or seldomly used colors and discover surprising new blends. Alison’s process is simple – just wet your paper with water, drop in a few colors and enjoy watching them burst across the surface.

“These two are such beautiful transparent colors that they seem to just flow with each other. In thinner washes, both individually and together, there is such a wonderful range of violets, greens and blues – from pastels to deep hues. These two make for a very calming palette.”  – Alison

Friday Fun

Friday Fun is about enjoying the playful and relaxing process of painting an everyday object. A “no-judgement” doodling session quiets the mind and frees you from the pressure of getting perfect results – especially when you work wet into wet.

“The beauty of simple eggshells lies in the smooth, warm brown surface and the way the light catches those tiny cracks at the edges. My husband was puzzled when he found my broken eggshells washed and neatly arranged to dry in the kitchen, but I’ve been itching to paint these for a while! Burgundy Yellow Ochre is such a versatile color for these subtle hues, which can be challenging to mix.”  – Alison
