Ethel Pajao from the Philippines demonstrates her free-form floral painting techniques and talks about how making art gives her life.

“I first pursued watercolor because I needed a distraction when we moved from Singapore back to Pinas. I didn’t want to be reminded that we left Singapore (our second home) and I wanted to be reconnected with Pinas as quickly as possible. So I painted subjects that are easy to connect with – our local flowers. Fast forward to today – I love watercolor as an art form because it has since become a refuge. It doesn’t judge, even if I mess up. I can be brutally honest, conceal something, be still, or just flow. Art allows me to be me and enriches my journey. It’s almost magic how the raw beauty of watercolor catching my attention has kept me sane.”
