Jansen Chow

Jansen Chow is a true Master at using simplified color palettes to their fullest to create extraordinary works of watercolor art. He is a believer that watercolor artwork can be very powerful with less colors and that you can achieve a strong statement with a very simplified palette when you choose free expression, versus strictly following rules. Jansen’s incredible works exemplify this approach with his accomplishment of very difficult watercolor works with simple colors. Southeast Asia is full of rich colors due to the reflection of year round sunshine and he admits that “Most Southeast Asian artists are optimistic and happy in nature, as you can see from their works”. He has mastered color use as a fulltime working artist for over 30 years, something he is very proud of. “It is a wonderful thing to wake up every day thinking about how to create, and to paint a wonderful work.”, he says about his career.

Jansen committed to sharing himself and his work and being open to being known and understood, wanting others to be able to appreciate works that he is satisfied with. The exhibitions he holds, and the competitions are how he communicates with the world. Jansen Chow has an impressive portfolio of awards for his acclaimed works, having participated in over 400 national and international watercolor competitions.

I want the audience to feel happy when they see my paintings and experience the architecture, lovely people, feelings, and beautiful scenery in its fullness, in the same way I did”. ~Jansen
