“As a mother of young children, I paint about the things that are in my own foreground – making much of the little things, taking refuge in pockets of calm. Translated into paintings, this becomes layers and layers of chaos that somehow find themselves coming together to make peace. It becomes ordinary subject matter treated with careful care that hopes to transform it into something more than ordinary. Quiet temperature shifts and color choices all support this theme. Textures formed through the watercolor ground substrate and generous pools of paint allowed to form hard edges add depth and maturity. In these small ways, I like to remind myself that most things in life, including people, are more than meets the eye.”
