Ton Ador is originally from Eastern Samar, now living in Manila. While working for a fast food chain, he was slowly able to switch his creative efforts from a hobby into making a living as an artist. He joined several art groups through social media, as well as the IWS Philippines, the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists, and the Philippine Pastel Artists. These groups opened his eyes and helped him immerse himself into different art activities and events. He honed his skills, showcased his potential and exposed himself to art and culture. These groups paved the way for him to connect with people and rediscover himself and his capabilities as an artist.
“Art became my life. Through practice, I was able to develop my own style – a product of self-discovery with the help of people around me. As a self-taught artist, I tend to indulge in every detail while sketching emotion and scenery. I loo for omething with pure depth and definition. I want my drawings and paintings to speak to people. I don’t always need to capture the whole image perfectly; I like imperfections, something that will make my viewers use their imagination and crave more.”
A few things that make his work stand out – his neutral yet striking color palette, and his use of brush strokes, lines, contrast and shadows. Ton makes it a point to always create something that is significantly out of LOVE.
