Here’s a quick post on how to tell the DANIEL SMITH paint tube labels apart at a glance. Across the top row of the image below are tube labels from three product lines:
- Aquarelles extra fines
- Aquarelles luminescentes
- Gouache extra fine (coming soon!)
The white flower logo inside a solid color box is used on both #1 and #2 – so you want to look for the word “Luminescent” versus “Extra Fine” in the product name. The label for #3 is distinguished from the Watercolors with a solid box behind the word “Gouache” and the flower logo is in color without a box behind it.
Across the bottom row are three more lines:
4. Aquarelles PrimaTek
5. Colorants à l'huile solubles dans l'eau
6. Couleurs à l'huile originales
The product name is the same for #4 and #1, so look for the “P” logo instead of the flower to identify it as PrimaTek. Our wild boar logo is used for both #5 and #6 – but it has a white ring of text around it for the Water Soluble versus a black ring of text for the Original.
