FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a tool that gives the RGB, CMYK and/or hex numbers for DANIEL SMITH colors?

No. We use the CIELab Color System for our paint manufacturing, which assigns numeric values to combinations of multiple values of red, green, blue and yellow that best represent human vision.

The RGB color system is for rendering color on computer screens and other electronic devices, using combinations of multiple values of red, green and blue. A 6-digit hexadecimal number (hex value) is used in application coding to represent RGB colors on the web.

The CYMK color system is for rendering color on printed materials with combinations of cyan, magenta, yellow and black used in the 4-color printing process.
